Pakistan protest: Police arrest several PTI workers after clashes broke out as Imran Khan enters Islamabad

Islamabad: Several workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were arrested in the wee hours of Thursday as former Prime Minister and party chief Imran Khan flagged off a protest march towards Islamabad to demand fresh elections.

Tension gripped the country after clashes broke out between police and PTI workers as local authorities tried to block them from moving toward D-Chowk in Islamabad after Khan warned his supporters would not vacate the area until a date for fresh polls was announced by the Shehbaz Sharif government.

In the recent aftermath of the clash, Islamabad’s Metro station was set on fire, reported news agency ANI citing local media reports.
